Bhubaneswar: A hotel owner was found dead with severe head injuries at Simulia area in Balasore district under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased has been identified as Ganjendra Panda, owner of Jay Maa Durga hotel under Simulia police station.
As per reports, the 59-year-old was found lying dead in his hotel room on National Highway-16, near Jamujhadi, on Monday morning. The hotel, Jay Maa Durga, had closed its shutters after serving the last customers last night, and Panda went to sleep.
The cook, Ramesh, reportedly tried to wake Panda up in the morning but received no response. The locals then informed the Simulia police, who launched an investigation into the matter. Panda’s brother, Surendra Prasad Panda, has filed a complaint with the police.
Preliminary reports suggest that hotel owner Gajendra Panda was murdered by some miscreants while he was sleeping in his hotel room, and they fled the scene.
Meanwhile, police are trying to determine the motive behind the killing, with the cook being questioned by the police.
