Rayagada: Burglars broke into the house of a businessman in Rayagada town and looted valuables such as gold, silver, and cash in the wee hours of Friday.
According to reports, the burglary took place at the residence of Subrata Pati, owner of Hotel Kailash in New Colony, Rayagada, late last night. The burglars allegedly broke into the house through the back door, cutting the grill, while Pati and his mother, Nishamani, were in the front portion of the house.
The thieves made off with cash worth ₹10 lakh, approximately 20 tolas of gold jewellery, and over two kilograms of silver items after breaking open two almirahs.
Upon discovering the burglary, Pati informed the police, who promptly reached the spot. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gaurahari Sahu, along with other officials and a scientific team, including a dog squad, have begun investigating the burglary.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the burglars entered from the rear of the house. CCTV footage captured some visuals of the burglars is being analysed as part of the investigation.
