Bhubaneswar: The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) has urged Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to intervene and ensure smooth supply of commercial LPG cylinders to hotels and restaurants in the state.
In a memorandum submitted to Puri, HRAO chairman JK Mohanty highlighted the disruptions in LPG supply, saying it has severely impacted food preparation and service in many establishments. “The situation may lead to closure of hotel operations, cancellation of bookings, and inconvenience to tourists,” Mohanty warned.
The association emphasized that the hospitality industry is a vital part of India’s tourism ecosystem, contributing to employment, state revenues, and economic activity. LPG shortage can impact the industry’s ability to provide quality services, affecting the tourism experience.
HRAO members pointed out that hotels and restaurants can’t store large quantities of LPG, and current stocks will last only 2-3 days. They demanded uninterrupted supply of commercial cylinders to avoid disruptions.
The association has sought Puri’s intervention to restore and ensure continuous LPG supply to hotels and restaurants nationwide, citing wider economic implications for the hospitality ecosystem.
