Bhubaneswar/Bhadrak: The 12073 Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express got derailed at the level crossing near Bhadrak station yard after hitting a bull at about 5.50 PM today.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR), the front two wheels of Guard cum Luggage Van (next to the engine) got derailed.
However, no injury or casualties were reported. The Down line was free from obstruction.
DRM Khurda Road along with other Branch officials rushed to the spot for rerailment work.
Since all the passenger coaches are on line and the affected coach is an SLR one, all the passengers are safe.
“Since there are double lines, it shouldn’t have any impact on traffic. We have a trained team to work at night. So there shouldn’t be any difficulties or delays in carrying out the operation,” the ECoR said in a press release.
SLR coach means Sitting cum Luggage Rake. In a train, there are two SLR coaches. While the first one is next to the engine, the second one is at end of the train.
Rerailment work was completed at 7.10 PM, the press release added.
