Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department today held a detailed discussion with the 6th State Finance Commission at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall of Kharavela Bhawan.

During the meeting, the Department presented a comprehensive overview of its key activities and priorities for consideration under the forthcoming Finance Commission period. The deliberations focused on the criteria for incentive grants, strengthening of urban governance and fiscal discipline, improving performance in sanitation, enhancing human resources, capacity-building and training for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), establishment of robust Project Management Units (PMUs), improvement in accounting and financial management, augmentation of ULBs’ own-source revenues, and sector-wise financial requirements for the period 2026–27 to 2030–31.

Chairman of the 6th State Finance Commission, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, led the discussions along with Members Prof. Asit Rajan Mohanty, Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak, and Member Secretary Dr. Satyapriya Ratha. Principal Secretary, H&UD Department, Usha Padhee, Director of Municipal Administration & Ex-Officio Member, SFC, Financial Adviser-cum-Additional Secretary, Additional Secretaries, and senior officers of the Department participated in the deliberations.

The interaction provided a valuable platform to align the Department’s strategies with the Commission’s objectives, reinforcing the shared vision of strengthening urban governance, promoting fiscal responsibility, and fostering sustainable urban development — contributing to the larger goals of Viksit Odisha @2036 and Viksit Bharat @2047.
