Bhubaneswar: Minister of Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Krushna Chandra Mohapatra conducted a comprehensive review of the Department’s activities today at Kharavela Bhawan. Senior officials from different wings of the Department participated in the meeting.
During the review, the Minister directed officials to immediately take up the planned initiatives and ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe. He underscored the importance of timely execution and accountability to deliver tangible results on the ground.
Dr. Mohapatra emphasised strengthening manpower across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). He instructed that each ULB must have at least one Junior Engineer/Assistant Engineer to ensure proper monitoring of projects and smooth delivery of basic urban services. “Citizens’ welfare is our foremost priority. We must ensure uninterrupted access to essential services while building sustainable and inclusive cities,” he advised.
Highlighting the vision for future urban development, the Minister called for planned city growth to meet the demands of rapid urbanisation, greener and cleaner urban spaces to promote healthy living and environmental balance, robust service delivery mechanisms to improve quality of life in cities and towns.
The Minister urged officials to adopt innovative approaches and work in close coordination with ULBs to achieve the Department’s objectives. He further stressed that urban growth must be people-centric and aligned with the state’s broader development vision.
The eeting was attended by Special Secretary Rajesh Pravakar Patil and Gangadhar Naik, Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, Additional Secretaries, Officers from BDA & BMC and other concerned officials were present. The review was held at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall of Kharavela Bhawan.
