Banki (Cuttack): Police on Wednesday recovered a human skeleton from the cashew plantation on the backside of the Dampada Fire Station under Banki police station limits in Cuttack district.
According to reports, some people who had gone to guard the cashew plantation discovered the skeleton and informed the police.
A bag, some torn clothes and an identity card of a young woman lying near the skeleton have been seized by the police.
The seized identity card is reportedly of a young woman Jhuna Jena of Dampada village who has been missing for a year.
It is suspected that the skeleton could be of the missing young woman Jhuna.
Jhuna was working in a nearby private spices manufacturing unit. Her family had lodged a missing person complaint with the police a year back. So far, her whereabouts have not been traced. It is suspected that somebody could have kidnapped and murdered her.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter after seizing the skeleton and other materials.
