Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has granted interim protection to singer Arpita Choudhury and musician Somesh Satpathy in the Markatnagar police station case related to the death of singer Humane Sagar.

The High Court, after conducting preliminary hearing on the anticipatory bail application filed by Somesh and Arpita, has directed the police to file a case diary. The High Court has allowed the petitioner to implead Humane Sagar’s mother Shefali Suna as a party in the case. Along with this, the High Court has issued a notice to the respondent number-2 in the case, Mrs. Suna.

The High Court has granted interim protection not to take the petitioner into custody in the Markatnagar police station case till the next hearing of the case. The High Court has said that the petitioner will cooperate with the investigating agency in the investigation. A bench comprising Justice V. Narasimha passed the order after hearing the anticipatory bail pleas filed by Somesh and Arpita. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for February 16.

It is worth mentioning that on December 21, based on the complaint of Humane’s mother Shefali Suna, the police registered a case against Somesh, Arpita and nine others at the Markatnagar police station. Later, an anticipatory bail plea was filed in the High Court by Somesh and Arpita.
