Bhubaneswar: The health condition of Dhiman Chakma, a 2021-batch IAS officer and Sub-Collector of Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district, has reportedly deteriorated after being sent to judicial custody following his arrest in a bribery case.
Chakma was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a local businessman.
If sources are to be believed, he is now suffering from deep depression and has been kept under observation in the jail’s medical ward for security and medical reasons.
The Vigilance team had caught Chakma red-handed while accepting the bribe at his official residence. During the investigation, a further Rs 47 lakh was recovered from his residence. Following his arrest, he was kept isolated from other jail inmates and held under observation.
