Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad have entered into a five-year agreement to promote joint research and deepen academic collaboration, with semiconductors identified as an initial area of focus, officials said on Wednesday.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) provides for joint research programmes and projects, co-supervision of doctoral scholars and efforts to secure research funding from external agencies.
The two institutes will also facilitate interaction and exchange among faculty members, including through visiting and adjunct faculty positions. Student exchanges for teaching-learning activities, seminars and observerships are also envisaged under the agreement.
As part of the collaboration, the institutes will share experimental resources and explore the development and joint use of large-scale research facilities. They will also organise joint academic discussions to build expertise and intensify research in identified focus areas.
The MoU will remain valid for five years and may be extended with the mutual consent of both institutes. Any intellectual property generated jointly through collaborative activities will be owned equally by the two institutions, officials said.
