Cuttack: An illegal cooking gas godown was unearthed in Brahman Jharilo under Barang block of Cuttack district, prompting swift action by the Sadar police, officials said on Saturday.
Acting on specific inputs, police conducted a late-night raid at a rented house where the illicit operation was being run. The premises were subsequently sealed.
During the operation, police detained two persons suspected to be involved in the illegal trade. Authorities revealed that the site was being used for unauthorized storage and refilling of LPG cylinders, posing a serious safety risk.
Officials seized more than 200 LPG cylinders, two four-wheeled vehicles, and equipment used for refilling gas from the godown. An investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the network and identify other individuals involved.
Police said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
