Puri: The India Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast alert for Puri, warning of generally cloudy skies accompanied by intermittent light rain over the next six hours.
According to the nowcast bulletin, issued at 7 am today, temperatures in Puri are expected to hover between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius with humidity levels ranging from 85 to 90 per cent. The weather condition is likely to remain generally cloudy with spells of light rain at intervals.
The realised weather recorded at 5:30 am showed a temperature of 28.0 degrees Celsius and 89 per cent humidity, with cloudy skies and light rain already occurring. An accumulated rainfall of 1.1 mm was recorded during the early morning hours.
The Met department has urged pilgrims and devotees to stay alert, particularly regarding the possibility of lightning and thunderstorm activity. The IMD advised people to move to safe and permanent shelters during heavy rain or strong winds and to avoid taking shelter under trees, electric poles, or temporary structures.
Devotees have also been asked to stay well hydrated, monitor official weather updates, and exercise caution on wet roads.
