IMD Alert: Odisha Likely To Experience Thunderstorms and Rain Till Sept 20

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Odisha, predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts till September 20.

According IMD prediction for tomorrow, heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore.

Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are expected in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

“Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati”, read the IMD prediction for September 17.

For September 18, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in 14 districts.

As per the prediction for September 18, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in these areas. The affected districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh. Residents are advised to stay cautious and prepared for worsening weather conditions.

The weather alert for Odisha, predicting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds, is expected to continue until September 20.
