IMD Issues Heatwave Alert; Hot And Humid Conditions Expected Till May 14

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Odisha districts, effective from May 8 to May 14.

According to the IMD, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail in several districts of the state during this period.

From May 8 to May 9, hot and humid conditions are likely to be experienced in coastal districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur.

“Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur,” read the IMD alert for May 9.

From May 10 onwards, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in western Odisha districts, including Jharsuguda, Boudh, Bolangir, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur. The coastal districts will continue to experience hot and humid conditions.

“Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, and Sambalpur”, read the alert issued by the regional weather office for May 10.

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, Sundargarh and Sambalpur on May 11.

As per the prediction, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur on May 11.

For May 12, the regional weather office has predicted heatwave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, and Sambalpur.

Going by the prediction, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurdha, Cuttack, and Jajpur will experience hot and humid conditions on May 12.

For May 13, IMD prediction reads: “Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, and Sambalpur.”

Also, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur.

“Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh and Sambalpur”, read the IMD forecast for May 14.

That apart, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur on May 14.
