IMD Issues Red Warning For Kendujhar And Mayurbhanj Tomorrow, Orange Alert For 8 Dists

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red warning for two Odisha districts tomorrow, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts. People in these areas have been urged to take necessary action.

Besides, an Orange Warning has also been sounded for Baleshwar, Jajpur, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola and Dhenkanal. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places in these districts, and residents have been advised to be prepared to take action.

The weather office has further predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph at one or two places over Baleshwar, Jajpur, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.

A Yellow Warning has been issued for Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Baragada, Subarnapur and Boudh. Heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in these districts. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed upto 30-40 kmph is also likely. People have been asked to remain aware.

According to the IMD forecast for August 19, an Orange warning has been issued for Sundaragada, Jharsuguda and Baragada where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places. A Yellow Warning has been issued for Sambalpur, Debagada, Kendujhar, Subarnapur and Balangir for heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind of 30-40 kmph.

On August 20, a Yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind of 30-40 kmph at one or two places over Sundaragada, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.

A similar Yellow Warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind of 30-40 kmph has been issued for August 21 over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

For August 22, the IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind of 30-40 kmph is also likely over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places over Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj on August 23. A yellow warning has been issued to these districts. On August 24, the Yellow warning for heavy rainfall will continue over Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj and Baleshwar.

The IMD has advised people in the affected districts to remain vigilant and follow the advisories issued by the local administration.
