Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted that enhanced rainfall activity is to occur over several districts of Odisha till January 14.
Under the influence of mid & upper tropospheric Westerlies and interaction with low level easterlies and also moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rainfall activity is very likely to occur at many places till January 14.
Also, isolated thunderstorm accompanied with hail and heavy rain is likely to occur in some districts of Odisha during this period. Some impact on agriculture is expected due to this weather phenomenon, the IMD said.
Here is IMD’s rainfall forecast and warnings for the next four days:
Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 12.01.2022):
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over
the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning and hail is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Sambalpur.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh Boudh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, and Sonepur.
Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.01.2022 to 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2022):
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Kandhamal.
Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2022 to 0830 hrs IST of 14.01.2022)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over
the districts of interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha.
