IMD Predicts Heavy Rain In Odisha On July 24 And 25, Yellow Warning Issued For Several Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha on July 24 and 25. According to the IMD bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coast between 5.8 and 7.6 km above mean sea level, which was observed at 5:30 pm IST on Thursday, has become less marked at 8:30 am IST today.

The weather department has issued a Yellow Warning (Be Aware) for July 24. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph is also very likely at one or two places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.

For July 25, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at a few places over all districts of Odisha. A Yellow Warning — Be Aware has been issued with heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over Baleshwar, Sundargarh, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind of 30-40 kmph is very likely at one or two places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Anugul, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 33.2°C in Paralakhemundi, while the lowest minimum temperature was 18.3°C in Boudh over the plains of Odisha.

Officials have advised people in the affected districts to stay alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rain.
