IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Activity In Odisha As Low-Pressure Area To Become More Marked

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal is likely to become more marked, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and is expected to move west-northwest across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand over the next 2-3 days.

Several parts of the state have been experiencing light to moderate rain and thunderstorms since Thursday night. The IMD has predicted that this rainfall activity will continue for the next 24 hours, potentially disrupting normal life in some areas.

IMD has, meanwhile, issued a yellow warning to 12 districts including Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak. There is a possibility of heavy rain in some places in these districts. These districts are likely to receive 11 centimetres of rain may occur in these districts on Friday.

On Saturday, there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places in the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak. These districts may receive 7 to 11 centimetres of rain, as per IMD prediction. Therefore, a yellow warning has been issued to these nine districts.
