Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here Monday predicted widespread rain across the state today. The weather office has also issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain in eight Odisha districts.
“Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in some districts of western and interior Odisha with another 24 hours of widespread rainfall in the state under the influence of an active low-pressure area over north Odisha,” the IMD tweeted.
“The low pressure is active over north Odisha and adjoining areas on Monday, associated cyclone extending up to 7.6 km height of the atmosphere. It is likely to cross Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh to North Madhya Pradesh in the next two days.”
Several districts, including Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain (7 cm to 20 cm) today. At the same time, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) in Angul, Cuttack, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Keonjhar districts on Monday.
A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued for several districts in the state on Tuesday.
