Puri: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh nowcast warning for Puri amid the ongoing Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra celebrations.
According to the bulletin released at 10:00 am on Wednesday, generally cloudy sky conditions with the likelihood of light rain are expected over Puri for the next six hours.
The weather department has forecasted a temperature range of 29 to 31 degrees Celsius with high humidity between 85 and 95 per cent. Earlier, at 8:30 am, the realised temperature in Puri was recorded at 28.2 degrees Celsius with 91 per cent humidity. The city also received 27 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am and 9:30 am under cloudy and hazy conditions.
The IMD has urged pilgrims and devotees to exercise caution due to the possibility of lightning and thunderstorm activity.
This weather alert has been specifically issued keeping in view the large gathering of devotees during the sacred Ratha Yatra festival.
