Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh nowcast warning for Puri, where the nine-day-long Rath Yatra is currently in full swing predicting partly cloudy sky with light rain is likely over Puri during the next six hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 10 am by the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, the temperature is expected to hover between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius, while humidity will remain high at 85 to 90 per cent. As of 08:30 am today, the realised temperature in Puri stood at 30.6 degrees Celsius with 87 per cent humidity. The sky was mainly cloudy with haze, and no rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours.
The IMD has advised pilgrims and devotees to stay alert as weather conditions can change rapidly during the monsoon. If heavy rain, lightning, or strong winds occur, devotees should immediately move to a safe and permanent shelter. Authorities have cautioned against taking shelter under trees, electric poles, or temporary structures during thunderstorms or lightning activity.
Elderly persons, children, and people with medical conditions have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to rain and crowded areas.
Pilgrims have also been asked to keep their mobile phones charged, protect valuables in waterproof pouches, and take sea baths only at designated and permitted locations while avoiding high tide and rough sea conditions.
