Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is likely to form over the South Bay of Bengal on October 21, which may intensify into a depression by October 23, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Going by the IMD prediction, the system is expected to move northwest initially and then change its course towards Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh.
However, the IMD clarified that this system will have no impact on Odisha’s weather. The low-pressure area may intensify into a depression, but its trajectory and intensity are still uncertain.
Meanwhile, weather Models suggest it may move towards Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh, but no impact is expected on Odisha,” said an IMD official.
The GFS model predicts the system to intensify into a depression and reach near north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh by October 23. However, other models have not supported this prediction.
In the coming week, Odisha is expected to experience dry weather with no rainfall predicted in any part of the state, according to the IMD forecast.
