Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a warning for thunderstorm and gusty winds across Odisha for the next four days.
As per the forecast, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over many districts till October 9.
For the next 24 hours, valid upto 8.30 am of October 6, the warning has been issued for 20 districts – Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir and Kandhamala.
On Day 2, from 8.30 am of October 6 to 8.30 am of October 7, the weather activity is likely to be concentrated over northern and southern interior Odisha covering the districts of Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
The IMD has predicted widespread thunderstorm activity on Day 3 and Day 4.
From October 7 to October 9, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind upto 30-40 kmph is very likely at one or two places over a large number of districts including Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.
The Met department has advised people to remain aware and take precautionary measures during thunderstorm activity.
