IMD Warns Of Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms In Odisha On July 27-28

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds in several Odisha districts, prompting orange and yellow warnings for July 27 and July 28.

According to IMD prediction, an orange warning has been issued for the Sundargarh district. Sundargarh district is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph, on July 27.

Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for several districts on July 27. Heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, and Sonepur districts.

Besides, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are predicted in Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Boudh, and Balangir districts.

On July 28, the regional weather office issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious and prepared for potential disruptions due to heavy rainfall and strong winds.
