IMD Warns Of Rising Temperatures, Dense Fog Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The mercury may rise by up to 5°C in Odisha during the next few days marking an early arrival of summer. According to the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the temperature is likely to rise from the first week of February itself.

The winter chill has already subsided and the night/ minimum temperatures in Odisha are already 3°C – 4°C above normal.

The weather office has forecasted that most districts in Odisha are likely to see experience in temperatures 3°C -4°C higher than normal. The interior areas of the state are likely to be more affected than the coastal regions. Contrary to this, even the coastal regions are likely to experience above normal night temperatures.

At the same time, the IMD has warned that moderate to dense fog is likely to occur at several places in Odisha during the next five days. It has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 10 Odisha districts – Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Keonjhar during the next 24 hours. The impact of the fog is expected to persist till February 2.
