Bhubaneswar: In a heartwarming incident, a youth from Jagatsinghpur has become immortal by donating his organs, giving a new lease of life to two people.

Sources said Birendra Prasad Swain of Raghunathpur area of Jagatsinghpur, was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital after being seriously injured in a road accident on Sunday. However, he was declared brain-dead by the doctors on Monday.

And with the consent of his family members, his organs were donated. The urology and nephrology departments of SCB Medical College and Hospital jointly performed the kidney transplantation surgery. While one kidney was preserved at SCB, the other was sent to the Green Corridor All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for transplantation.

Thanks to Swain, two successful kidney transplants were performed at SCB Medical Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday. A woman from Jaipur area underwent a kidney transplantation, and another transplant was also performed at AIIMS.

The transplants were successful, with two people receiving new kidneys. Swain’s sacrifice made this possible, giving new hope to patients in need of kidney transplants.
