Balasore: Police have arrested an individual for allegedly appearing as an imposter in NEET examination in Bhadrak district.

Two others involved in the cheating case were also arrested and have been forwarded to court, said Bhadrak SDPO Sourav Ota at a press meet. Three others involved in the cheating case are on the run. They will be arrested soon, he added.

The imposter was caught while the NEET exam was conducted in a private school in Bhadrak on May 5. During the exam, the authorities suspected the fake candidate and informed the administrative officer. During verification, the centre staff found the photo of the fake examinee put on the admit card. However, his fingerprint didn’t match during Aadhar card verification.

The centre superintendent immediately informed the police who formed a team and laid the crackdown. During the course of investigation, police found that the real examinee was Saswat Tripathi of Mayurbhanj. Ankit Raj, a medical student from Kolkata, was attending the test impersonating as Saswat, the SDPO said.

The imposter, who was a needy student, had made a deal of Rs 10 lakh. Two others- Aditya Kumar and Rajesh acted as the middlemen between the two.

The imposter Ankit Raj belongs to Bihar while two others- Rajesh Madhukar and Prem Shankar Pandey are the residents of Bihar and Jharkhand respectively.

Police also seized the admit card, three mobile phones and a car from the arrested persons.
