Bhubaneswar: As the Indian and South African cricketers reached Odisha for the upcoming 2nd match between India Vs South Africa to be played at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on 12th June, there is another affair which has attracted the attention of the fans.
‘What will the cricketers eat during this festive season?’ has been in everyone’s mind as Odisha is all set to celebrate the annual 3-day-long Raja festival next week.
A lavish spread of authentic Odia food besides pan-Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Lebanese and continental cuisine is being laid out for Indian and South African cricket teams.
“As Mayfair is a 5-star deluxe hotel, we have a lot of options in the food section. However, as the players are more inclined towards healthy options, we have incorporated their requirements in our menu such as soups, salads, live counters, oriental, Japanese as well as Indian food. In addition to all these, we have also included Odia cuisine in the buffet consisting of Dalma, and variety of pithas such as chakuli, manda pitha, arisa, etc, informed the chief chef Mridul Mandal.
“Chhena Poda , as a dessert will be there in all the meals along with other healthy desserts,” he further added.
Talking about the preference of the South African players, he elucidated, “There will be Lebanese, Mexican and other food platters for the South African players, who mostly prefer skinless chicken, red meat with no visible fat, and fish like salmon and trouts. Their taste buds will also be taken care of by us.”
