Malkangiri: A four-month-old girl died after the wall of her house collapsed in Metaguda village of Odisha’s Malkangari district, while her mother and father are said to be in critical condition. According to information, Aita Madkami, his wife and infant daughter Swati were sleeping in their house when the wall of the house collapsed and fell on them on Saturday night.
Hearing the screams of Aita’s family, local villagers rushed to their hut and rescued the family. Aita’s wife was rushed to Maliya Community Health Center in critical condition, while 4-month-old Swati, died on the spot. Aita is also injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment.
On being informed, BDO Ramakrishna Nayak rushed to the spot and provided government assistance to the family. He ordered the local PIO to immediately resettle the family and provide housing to them.
It has been raining incessantly in Malkangiri since Friday and it had soaked the walls of Aita’s mud house resulting in the wall collapse.
