Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is active over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, creating favourable conditions for the southwest monsoon to advance further into Odisha over the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department. As a result, six Odisha districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall today.
As per the IMD report, the monsoon is expected to regain momentum after a 17-day stall. An orange warning has been issued for six districts in Odisha today, including Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore. These districts are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning, strong surface winds up to 30-40 kmph, and heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for several districts, including Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nuapada, and Balangir. These districts may experience isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this weather. Stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open fields and waterlogged areas, and follow local administration advisories to ensure safety.
