Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar with the arrest of 11 persons has busted an inter-state gang of thieves involved in the theft of large iron pipes used for water supply.
According to an official press release, the gang is well organized and property offenders dealing with the theft of iron pipes and disposing of them in other states.
The accused persons have been identified as Ramesh Chandra Sahu (52), Sandip Kumar Agrawal alias Babulu (45), Alok Bhola alias Tunguru (25), Sk Rahim alias Raja (37), Papu Bhuyan (21), Srikanta Maharana alias Patia (23), Rajkumar Parida (32), Sudhir Behera alias Mantu (34), Bhagirathi Nayak alias Benu (21), Kartik Chandra Subudhi (34), and Rashmiranjan Dash alias Chiku (29).
Police have seized Rs 20,000 in cash, one autorickshaw, one motorcycle and 10 mobile phones from their possession.
The gang has been involved in a series of similar crimes in different districts of the state including Khordha, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Cuttack.
