Bhubaneswar: The Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cameras installed at examination centres for the smooth conduct of the ongoing Matric exams this year have helped detect many irregularities during exams across the state.
Meanwhile, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) transferred the Centre Superintendent at Saharapada High School over irregularities in conducting the Matric examination at the exam centre.
The Keonjhar District Education Officer took action against the Centre Superintendent at Saharapada after AI cameras caught irregularities during the conduct of the Class X board exam at the centre.
Also, examinees of Hatadihi School in Keonjhar were seen talking to each other during the English exam in the presence of the invigilator on Friday. Concerned over the matter, the name of Hatadihi Centre Superintendent has been recommended for transfer.
According to sources, the BSE is conducting High School Certificate (HSC) examinations across the state. The board has installed as many as 600 AI-powered cameras as part of its measures to curb malpractice during the exam.
Going by the data available from BSE sources, more than 40 cases of malpractice came to the fore thanks to the installation of the AI cameras. Expressing concern over it, the board directed the District Education Officers (DEO) to take disciplinary action against the invigilators and centre superintendents found to be erring in conducting the exams.
Apart from Keonjhar, same sort of incidents were reported from Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.
