Bhubaneswar: In a disturbing incident under the Kujang police jurisdiction in Jagatsinghpur, a minor girl was allegedly gangraped by two brothers, both aged above 60, who work at a local mutt.
The Kujang police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family and arrested the accused last night and began interrogating them.
According to reports, the perpetrators took advantage of the minor’s vulnerability and committed the crime at the mutt where they are employed.
The incident came to light when it was discovered that the minor girl was six months pregnant.
It is alleged that the accused brothers forced the minor girl to undergo an abortion. When the victim’s father confronted them, they pressured him to remain silent and insisted that he ensure his daughter terminates the pregnancy. Additionally, they threatened to eliminate the minor girl if the matter was reported.
It is pertinent to mention that three days back, an 18-year-old girl was reportedly intercepted and sexually assaulted by two men while heading to a friend’s birthday celebration in Jagatsinghpur. She is currently undergoing treatment at Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.
