Bhubaneswar: The seven-day police remand of notorious criminal Raja Sahani, who had escaped from Choudwar Jail, came to an end on Thursday.
As per reports, Raja was produced before the JMFC Court in Cuttack under tight security by Karnataka Police. After the expiry of his remand period, he was sent back to jail by the Karnataka Police team.
During the seven-day custody, Karnataka Police interrogated Raja extensively and took him to his home state for questioning in connection with a sensational Rs 20 crore jewellery heist from a showroom in Mysore. Raja is suspected to be involved in the major dacoity case that took place after his escape from Choudwar Jail.
Karnataka Police are believed to have uncovered crucial links regarding the robbery through his interrogation.
It is expected that the Cuttack Commissionerate Police may seek his remand in the coming days for further investigation in connection with other cases registered against him in Odisha.
Notably, Raja escaped from Choudwar Jail and was later arrested again in connection with serious criminal cases.
