Bhubaneswar: The diarrhoea situation in Jajpur district has shown significant improvement, with a notable decrease in new admissions to hospitals. According to officials, no new areas have been reported to be affected by cholera, and those admitted to hospitals are gradually recovering.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has been working diligently to control the situation, with a 24×7 control room functioning at the district office. Grassroots workers have been working with full vigilance and promptness to prevent the spread of the disease.
National Health Mission Director Dr. Brunda D. and Special Secretary, Health Department, Dr. Vijay Kumar Mahapatra, visited the district to oversee the treatment of infected individuals. To further support the state’s efforts, the Central Government has sent three teams, including a 7-member health team, a 3-member food safety team, and a 4-member special food quality team.
These teams, comprising experts from various fields, will assess the public health situation, identify the causes of the disease, and provide necessary advice to field officers, state, and central governments. Public Health Director Dr. Nilakanth Mishra reported that a total of 1,516 people suffering from diarrhoea have been admitted to hospitals in Jajpur district so far, with 1,306 recovered and 210 undergoing treatment. Doctors are hopeful that the patients will recover soon.
