Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of three Odia pilgrims who lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Katra in Jammu.

The pilgrims, identified as Bichitra Kumar, Yogindra Matari, and Kabita Sahu, all hailed from Subarnapur district.

The accident occurred when four Odia pilgrims, who had travelled to Jammu & Kashmir to visit the Maa Vaishnodevi temple, met with a road mishap near Katra. One of the pilgrims, Snehalata Matari, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jammu.

Expressing concern over the mishap, the Odisha government has made necessary arrangements to bring back the mortal remains of the deceased pilgrims to Odisha with the joint efforts of the Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha, New Delhi, the Odisha Paribar Directorate, and the Subarnapur District Administration.
