Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Thursday sentenced an ex-Accountant of Jatani Municipality to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him after convicting him in a bribery case.
Ex-Accountant of Jatani Municipality Sarat Kumar Dash was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar after it convicted him for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000, said an official press release of the Odisha Vigilance.
The Court has ruled that convict Dash has to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two months in default of payment of the fine.
Dash was charge-sheeted by the Vigilance for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a complainant for facilitating the release of the final bill for the construction of a cement concrete (cc) road with drain in Jatani Municipality.
Dash was sent to jail to serve the sentence.
