Bhubaneswar: In a significant development ahead of the Nuapada by-election, Jay Dholakia, son of former BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.

Dholakia’s decision to join the BJP was eagerly awaited by many, and he formally enrolled as a party member in the presence of senior leaders, including BJP state president Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo.

With this development, Dholakia has put an end to all speculations surrounding his political future. The BJP’s decision to welcome Dholakia into the party is likely to strengthen its prospects in the Nuapada by-election, where the party is yet to announce its candidate. The Congress has already fielded Ghasiram Majhi in the by-election, and the BJD is yet to announce its candidate.
