Koraput: Jeypore Sadar police have arrested two persons under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police have seized one car, Rs 2,50,000 cash and two mobile phones from them.
The accused have been identified as Gopal Lal Jat and Gopal Lal Gurjar, police said.
According to the police, a patrolling team led by Sub Inspector S Panda today at around 3.20 AM detained a car bearing a registration mark of Rajasthan at Patraput bridge while it was proceeding towards Kota junction.
Police said on being asked the occupants inside the car identified themselves as Gopal Lal Jat (driver) and Gopal Lal Gurjar and told that they belonged to Rajasthan.
Since the registration number of the vehicle was Rajasthan state and the occupants gave prevaricating statements about their purpose of visit on suspicion Panda along with other members of the patrolling team checked the car and found five bundles of 500 rupees denomination kept under the seat, police said.
According to the police upon sustained interrogation, Jat and Gurjar confessed that they were proceeding to Bandaveedihi village of Andhra Pradesh to collect ganja from one person.
The accused persons also confessed of procuring ganja from that person at regular intervals and have already advanced Rs one lakh to him to cultivate ganja and provide them with the contraband after yielding, police informed.
