Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Thursday placed Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Jharbandh Police Station in Bargarh district, Sukra Madhi, under suspension pending a disciplinary inquiry into alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duty in connection with a narcotics case.
According to an office order issued by the Odisha Police Headquarters in Cuttack, disciplinary proceedings are being contemplated against Madhi in relation to Jharbandh Police Station Case No. 65 dated May 6, 2026, registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act along with Section 111(2)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The order stated that the suspension was considered necessary “in the interest of public service” and was imposed with immediate effect under Rule 840 of the Police Manual Rules (PMR), 1940.
During the suspension period, the officer will remain under the disciplinary control of the Inspector General of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur.
The order further stated that Madhi would be entitled to subsistence allowance and dearness allowance as admissible under Rule 90 of the Odisha Service Code.
The suspension order was issued by the Director General of Police, Odisha.
