Jharsuguda: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his father and buried the body in a forested area to cover up the crime. The incident took place in Baratap village under Lakhanpur police station limits in Jharsuguda district.
The deceased has been identified as Bimbadhar Patta, while his son Bidyadhar Patta has been arrested as the prime accused.
According to police sources, Bidyadhar attacked his father on the head with one of the legs of a dining table, leading to his death.
In an attempt to conceal the crime, Bidyadhar transported the body to Chilantikhol in Deogarh district, where he buried it. He reportedly misled family members by claiming that his father had died after falling from the stairs. However, his elder sister grew suspicious and lodged a complaint with Lakhanpur police.
Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation, arrested Bidyadhar, and recovered the murder weapon. The victim’s body was exhumed, post-mortem conducted, and later handed over to the family. The accused has been produced in court.
