Jharsuguda: Badmal police have cracked a robbery case with the arrest of four persons and recovery of Rs 4.89 lakh during the investigation, police said on Saturday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pinku Suna, Rabi Suna, Anand Tandi and Manoj Nanda. Police said Pinku Suna allegedly emerged as the key figure in the case.
According to police, the incident was initially reported as a robbery. However, the investigation took a different turn after police analysed CCTV footage, technical evidence and other scientific inputs, besides gathering local intelligence.
Badmal police registered the case on August 20 and launched a detailed investigation into the incident. During the probe, investigators allegedly found indications of a pre-planned conspiracy behind the incident.
Police said the conspiracy was allegedly planned in Raurkela on August 16 and executed on August 18. The investigation subsequently led police to Jharipani, where Rs 4,89,700 was recovered.
Investigators used CCTV footage, technical evidence and local intelligence to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the alleged modus operandi, police said.
The evidence gathered during the probe helped police unravel the alleged conspiracy and identify the four accused persons, officials said.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the complete sequence of events and the role of each of the arrested persons in the case.
