Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda town in western Odisha recorded the highest temperature in the state on Monday, with the mercury reaching 41°C.
Other towns in western Odisha, including Sambalpur, Rourkela, and the Hirakud area, recorded temperatures of 38°C or higher, while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperatures of 38°C.

According to the weather scientist, Jharsuguda recorded 41°C, Sambalpur 39.8°C, Rourkela 39°C and Hirakud 38.8°C, marking the record temperatures as of 2:30 pm today.
In response to the ongoing heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicted no significant change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next 24 hours, followed by a decrease of 2-3°C in the districts of Odisha.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain at or above 40°C in isolated pockets of districts such as Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Titlagarh, Subarnapur, Boudh, Paralakhemundi, and Rourkela.
