Bhubaneswar: A dramatic incident of revenge has come to light in Rukunadeipur village under Basudevpur police station limits in Bhadrak district where a jilted lover, identified as a young woman, set her ex-boyfriend’s house on fire after their relationship turned sour.
According to sources, Prabhath Mahapatra, a resident of Rukunadeipur village had been in a long-distance relationship with a young woman from Bhadrak for a long time. However, due to some reasons, a rift developed in their relationship, leading to a breakdown. Currently, Pravat is working outside the state, while the young woman is living in her village.
The young woman is alleged to have come to Pravat’s house with her friend on a scooter yesterday evening. She allegedly hurled abuses at Pravat’s family members and attacked his mother, Jyosnarani and sister.
Later, she poured petrol on the house and set it ablaze. However, timely intervention by villagers prevented major damage.
The villagers caught hold of the two women and informed the Basudevpur police, who took them into custody and are investigating the matter.
