Jagatsinghpur: Keeping in view the recent flood in Jagatsinghpur, JSW Foundation and the district administration distributed a special relief package in the flood-affected areas.
Recently, the coastal belt of Odisha received an unprecedented monsoon rainfall causing floods in the Mahanadi River basin. Some villages in the Jagatsinghpur district have been inundated. Particularly, two blocks—Kujung and Tirtol have been ravaged by seasonal downpours and floods.
Following the crisis, JSW Foundation and district administration distributed 44,928 packets of biscuits, 4,500 packets of Amul (200gm), 4,500 packets of sanitary pads, 22,500 candles, 25,200 matchsticks and 3,500 packets of incense in Tirtol block, said an official press release.
Similarly, 55,152 biscuits packets, 5,540 Amul packets, 5,500 sanitary pads, 27,500 candles, and 24,800 matchsticks, along with 4,500 mosquito coil packets have been provided in Kujung block, the release added.
The Foundation and JSW Utkal Steel authorities visited flood-affected areas and interacted with the people. They also met with District Collector Parul Patawari and Deputy District Collector and assured them to support all kinds of assistance to the people.
Patwari praised JSW for providing assistance during such natural calamities. Sarpanchs of different blocks also expressed their gratitude to JSW for the initiative.
