Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has formed over Odisha, triggering thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hailstorms in the northern part of the state.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj district, with other districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur have been issued yellow warning. These districts are also expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by Kalabaisakhi.
According to the IMD, Mayurbhanj may experience winds gusting up to 50-60 kmph, while other parts of north Odisha may see winds blowing at 40-50 kmph.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rain in various parts of north and south Odisha on March 31, April 1, and April 2.
Western Odisha continues to sizzle under intense heat, with Titlagarh recording the state’s highest temperature at 39.5°C on Friday. Other districts in the region, including Sambalpur (39.3°C), Jharsuguda, Hirakud, Sonpur, and Bhanjanagar, also reported temperatures above 39°C. Angul, Rourkela, Nabarangapur, and Talcher recorded highs of 38°C, while the capital city Bhubaneswar saw a temperature of 37°C.
