Kalahandi: The family of a migrant worker in Kalahandi has appealed to the district administration for assistance in bringing back his body from Andhra Pradesh, where he had been employed.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanurjay Patel (55), a resident of Katpadi village under Paik Kendumundi Gram Panchayat within the jurisdiction of Jaipatna police station. He had been working at a tobacco factory in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh.
Neighbours said the family is struggling to make arrangements for the body’s return. Sudhakar Patel, a local resident, said, “If the administration helps bring the body home, it would provide immense relief to the family.”
Speaking to reporters, Kasturi Patel, the deceased’s wife, said her husband had been suffering from stomach pain and passed away during the night.
“He had not returned home for the last two years despite repeated requests. We tried to contact his employer, but he refused to help, saying he did not want to spend money. I appeal to the government to assist us, as it is only me, my daughter, and my elderly mother-in-law here,” she said.
Another neighbour, Parshuram Patel, added that they had approached the local police station to seek guidance. “The police advised filing a report at the station where the death occurred. Once the report is filed, the post-mortem procedure will be conducted,” he said.
The family hopes the district administration will intervene promptly to ensure Dhanurjay Patel’s body is returned to his native village for the final rites.
