Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday gave his approval to the Higher Education Department’s proposal to rename Kalahandi University in Bhawanipatna as Maa Manikeshwari University. Goddess Maa Manikeshwari is worshipped as the Goddess of Kalahandi district.
It is worth noting that Kalahandi University was established in 2001 and had 50 colleges under its purview. During his visit to Kalahandi district in November last, the Chief Minister had announced to rename Kalahandi University after Maa Manikeshwari.
