Malkangiri: A doctor at Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC) in Malkangiri district went missing since Saturday.
The health centre officials have lodged a complaint at Kalimela police station in this connection. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Dr Amlan Kumar Bhoi had attended the hospital duty and returned to his government quarters in the afternoon on Saturday. Since then he has remained untraced.
Police found a letter purportedly written the Maoists from his house, which mentioned the poor health care facilities due to shortage of doctors.
Police also recovered an old mobile phone from his quarters along with the letter. They seized these articles and started inquiry accordingly.
It is suspected that Maoists might abduct him from his official residence in the night.
According to sources, doctor had a quarrel with some local people regarding the conduct of a post-mortem recently.
