Bhubaneswar: King Kansa of Bargarh Dhanu Jatra, Susil Meher took a holy dip in the sea known as Mahodadhi’ at Puri today and offered prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple to seek forgiveness for “sins” committed while enacting his role.
Meher and his troupe bathed in the Mahodadhi to cleanse themselves of bad deeds, then visited the temple for darshan of the deities. They also visited Govardhan Pitha to seek Jagadguru Shankaracharya’s blessings.
The 11-day Dhanu Jatra, based on the Krushna leela, concluded on Saturday with the killing of Kansa. The 11-day extravaganza is considered the largest open-air theatrical drama of the world.
